Pentyrch 25 Taff’s Well 7
The last day of March was a memorable one for Pentyrch RFC – the chance to welcome our old friends from Taff’s Well for a crucial game for the 1 st team, and to welcome new friends from the outskirts of Bristol, from Thornbury as opposition for the 2nds . Throw in a players’ re- union , a packed club house, a great atmosphere, and most important of all, a comprehensive victory, without many of the first team regulars, against our oldest and fiercest rivals by 25 points to 7 . Despite a strong and ominous opening from the visitors when they took a 7-3 lead through a lovely individual converted try by R Barrett on the wing against a Tom James penalty the foundations for victory were set in that opening half up the slope and against the breeze. Strong forward play and adventurous rugby from the whole team resulted in two very different tries – slick handling allowing wing Nathan Williams to cross in the corner, and then a powerful driving maul resulting in Rhys Thomas touching down , with the conversion 15 – 7 ahead at the interval . And the home team were completely dominant almost throughout the second half – camped in opposition territory – and making sure of victory with 10 further points for Tom James – a try conversion and penalty for the centre who was voted joint Man of the Match with Dylan Atkins – forced in to service in the second row . But the whole team deserved the credit for a richly deserved victory as was graciously acknowledged afterwards by Taff’s Well captain and former Pentyrch flanker Lewis Edwards “ You played us off the Park today” were his words. It would have been nice perhaps to score a 4 th try and secure a bonus point – but let’s not be too greedy, and just celebrate a famous victory ! And the 2nd team also maintained their 100 % record by beating visitors Thornbury by 35 – 17. A great day for the club

Pentyrch 25 Ffynnon Tâf 7
Roedd Sadwrn ola Mawrth yn ddiwrnod cofiadwy I ni yng Nghlwb Rygbi Pentyrch . Cyfle I groesawu ein hen ffrindie o Ffynnon Tâf am gem allweddol , a chroesawu ffrindie newydd o gyrrion Bryste – Thornbury – I herio’r ail dim . Ad – uniad cyn chwarewyr hefyd – y clwb felly’n llawn a’r awyrgylch yn arbennig , yn enwedig gan I’r tim cynta – heb nifer o’r chwaraewyr arferol , roi’r perfformiad gore ers tro byd I guro’r ffindie / gelynion penna o 25 pwynt i 7 . Gosodwyd y seilie lan y tyle ac yn erbyn yr awel yn yr hanner cynta – er I Ffynnon Tâf ddechre’n gryf a bygythiol , a mynd ar y blân o 7 – 3 gyda chais unigol cyffrous I’r asgellwr R Barrett a’r trosiad yn erbyn gol gosb Tom James . Ond daeth Pentyrch nol gyda’r blaenwyr yn rheoli a’r tim cyfan yn chware’n fentrus a chael eu haeddiant gyda dau gais cwbwl wahanol – trafod pert yn galluogi’r asgellwr Nathan Williams I groesi am y cynta ac yna’r blaenwyr â sgarmes symudol bwerus gyda Rhys Thomas yn tirio – cais a droswyd gan Tom James 15 – 7 ar yr egwyl . Ac wedi troi , gyda mantes y llethr a’r awel fe reolodd y tim cartre bron yn llwyr a gwneud yn sicir o’r fuddugliaeth gyda 10 pwynt arall I Tom James – cais o symudiad a phas ardderchog , trosiad a gol gosb . Buddugoliaeth gwbwl glir a haeddiannol yn erbyn y tim oedd sy’n ail yn yr adran – un safle yn uwch na’r tim cartre – a chapten Ffynnon Tâf Lewis Edwards - cyn chwarewr Pentyrch – chware teg yn cydnabod hynny’n llwyr wedi’r gem – “you playedus off the park “ oedd ei sylw . Bydde wedi bod yn brâ cael pedwerydd cais I sicrhau pwynt bonws – ond does dim ishe bod yn drachwantus . Ac I goroni’r diwrnod fe gadwodd yr ail dim ei record o ennill pob gem yn ystod y tymor drwy guro Thornbury o 35 pwynt i 17 . Diwrnod arbennig I’r clwb
