Pentyrch travelled to Division 1 team Heol-y-Cyw to play this third round Swalec Plate cup fixture. Unfortunately it was not one of Pentyrch’s best performances, going down to a 46-0 defeat. Despite the glorious weather the pitch was in a poor condition. Very heavy and boggy and unmarked.

The home team scored four tries in the first half, together with a penalty and three conversions to lead 29-0 at the interval. A further three tries and one conversion were added in the second half. The Pentyrch backs never got going and the tackling was the poorest display seen for a long time. On a positive note, the scrum just about held it’s own, against a much bigger pack.

The Youth XV played Llandaff RFC at home, going down 12-27 in what was a C&D Cup match. The Development Team didn’t play.

The 1^st XV next play on Saturday, 27 December, when they host Abercynon RFC in a league fixture. Kick off is at 2:30pm. The Youth XV are away to Llantwit Fardre next Saturday. Kick off is 2:30pm. The Development Team is hoping for a home fixture on the same day.
