Pentyrch RFC v Llandaff North RFC - 17 February 2018

This was one of the biggest wins for Pentyrch for many seasons. The visitors started quite strongly but after 15 minutes Morgan Hayward slotted a penalty goal for the home team. This was quickly followed with a try under the posts from captain Tom Marley and converted by Morgan Hayward. Pentyrch dominated possession, territory and the scrums for the remainder of the half. Dogged defence kept the home team at bay until the last move of the 1st half. Good handling by the backs saw Will Hayward cross near the posts and his brother Morgan slotted the conversion to make the interval score 17-0

There was only one team in the game during the second half. The Pentyrch forwards and backs ran the ball from all areas of the field and combined well with their interplay. A further 7 tries followed - Morgan Hayward (2), Will Paddison, Kieran Williams, Nick Jones and Alex Moore. The referee also awarded a penalty try. Morgan Hayward converted 3 tries with James Thomas adding another. The final score was 62-0.

Neither the 2nd XV or Youth XV played.

The 1st XV next play on 3 March when they visit Old Illtydians. On the same date the 2nd XV visit Llandaff North RFC whilst the Youth XV is at home to Dinas Powys RFC. All games KO at 2:30pm. The 2nd XV is also playing at Taffs Well RFC this coming Thursday evening, 22 February, at 7:15pm.
