On a very sunny day with great conditions the Tyrchs' travel up the Merthyr valley to play Treharris at the Memorial Park and with the home side now highly fancied to top the table at the end of the season, this was a match that was played out at a really good pace and commitment by both sides. The Tyrch pack really showed the home side the way to scruumage and they outplayed them in all of the tight scrums and were awarded numourous penalties for infringements at the scrum area. A breakaway by the home side saw them score out near the touch line after a blatent knock on which was unseen by the ref 5-0, dispite many attacking moves by the visitors the home defence was very resolute and we failed to cross the line and we missed one pen and just before half time the home side were awarded a pen and at halftime it was 8-0.
The second half started in much the same way with by sides hamming on the door to try and get through, it was some 10 mins before the home side broke through after a lost lineout by the visitors and they then in the space on 15 mins managed to run in 3 more tries with cons to see them 29-0 with 3 mins to go and after a interception by wing Nathan Williams he ran in a try under to posts from inside his own half for Hywel Williams to con and the final score of 29-7
Next week the firsts are home to Clwb Rugbi Cardiff
The 2nd played host to a GAME ON DAY and 5 sides came and enjoyed a good days rugby and all enjoyed the event well done to all who helped out on the day.
The youth match at Llantwit Fardre was cancelled as the home side were unable to get a side.
