Penarth kicked off towards the Club end, the Tyrchs made a good catch, moving the ball forward through three phases before kicking the ball into the Penarth half. Penarth fielded the ball and found touch near the Tyrchs 22. The Tyrchs lost the resulting lineout and Penarth set up a series of attacks which were only thwarted by strong defence by the Tyrchs. Penarth were then awarded a penalty which was taken quickly and again the Tyrchs defended well. There followed a period of sustained pressure lasting some time with the Tyrchs conceding a number of penalties. Penarth calmed things down by finding a good touch, winning the resulting lineout and again running strongly. Eventually the pressure told and Penarth deservedly scored a try which was successfully converted from the touchline.

Tyrchs 0 Penarth 7.

The Tyrchs restarted the game and the ball was kicked back and fore until the Tyrchs found themselves attacking strongly down the left flank. Penarth defended desperately conceding a penalty for a high tackle. Tom James found a good touch;the Tyrchs lost the resulting lineout but somehow regained the ball. The Tyrchs quickly took advantage and the ball was moved swiftly to the right with Gethin scoring in the corner. The conversion was unsuccessful.

Penarth restarted the game and following a good catch the Tyrchs made progress upfield. Penarth defended strenuously forcing a knock on. The Tyrchs pressured the following scrum and were awarded a scrum for their efforts. The Tyrchs won the scrum and after moving the ball forward put in a clever kick behind the Penarthdefence. Nathan Williams running like a hare only just missed catching the ball before it bounced into touch: an opportunity unluckily missed. Penarth won the lineout and were awarded a penalty for offside in mid field. Unfortunately for them the refereed deemed they had not thrown the ball in straight and awarded the Tyrchs a scrum. The Tyrchs won the ball retaining possession for some minutes eventually moving the ball up to and over the Penarth line. The referee deemed that the ball had been held up and Penarth awarded a drop out from their try line. Tom Marley fielded the kick, maintained possession winning the Tyrchs a scrum. The Tyrchs won the scrum, were awarded a penalty but lost the lineout that followed. Penarth cleared their lines and then followed a period where both sides were awarded a series of scrums and lineouts with very little results. Penarth ran the ball after the last scrum only to knock the ball on in the tackle. Penarth defended the scrum well requiring thereferee to order it to be reset. The Tyrchs won the scrum and again set up a series of attacks and moving into the Penarth 22. The home crowd anticipated a further score but the referee awarded Penarth a penalty for not releasing the ball.  Penarth found a good touch, won it but conceded a penalty. The Tyrchs in turn found a good touchand were awarded another penalty won the following lineout but were called back for not throwing the ball in straight. Penarth won the scrum and cleared the ball up field. The Tyrchs ran the ball back but lost the ball in contact. Penarth counter attacked and after Morgan Hayward put in a strong tackle the ball rolled into touch. Thereferee blew for half time as the teams prepared for the lineout.

Half Time Tyrchs 10 Penarth 7.

The Tyrchs kicked off the second half and regained the ball after it had been cleared up field. The ball was then kicked back and fore until the referee awarded Penarth a penalty. The referee decided that Penarth had not thrown the ball in straight at the resulting lineout and the Tyrchs attacked following the scrum. The Tyrchs were then awarded a penalty which was kicked down the middle of the field and when a try looked likely the referee awarded Penarth a penalty. The referee took both Captains aside at this point as penalties were mounting. Penarth found a good touch, won the lineout and cleared the ball up field only for Nathan to catch it on the run and place a very good kick deep into the Penarth half. Penarth won the lineout and again cleared the ball, up field. Back came the Tyrchs and with Ben Jones to the fore were only stopped by desperate defence. The referee however was playing advantage for offside and Gethin successfully converted the penalty.

Tyrchs 13 Penarth 7.

Penarth restarted the game and immediately gained a penalty due an unfortunate off side decision. Penarth found a good touch some 7/8 metres from the Tyrchs line, won the lineout and drove over the Tyrchs line for a try which was successfully converted.

Tyrchs 13 Penarth 14.

The Tyrchs restarted the game in a state of shock with such a swift turnaround in fortunes. The Tyrchs recovered well and pressured Penarth causing them to knockthe ball on. The Tyrchs lost the resulting scrum but were awarded a penalty for one of the Penarth players leading with his forearm and the referee yellow carded the player. The Tyrchs found a good touch, won the lineout and ran the ball into the Penarth 22 only to knock the ball on in the tackle. Penarth won the resulting scrum and kicked the ball into the Tyrchs half only for it to be returned with interest. Then followed a period where play went back and fore with both teams yet again being awarded a number of penalties, lineouts and scrums. Eventually play focused on the half way line with both teams desperate to get some advantage to be able to claim a win. The Tyrchs found a good touch after the last penalty in the series and in defending the lineout Penarth knocked the ball on. The Tyrchs won the following scrum but in their anxiety to make progress in turn knocked the ball on. Penarth won the resulting scrum and after moving the ball up field were awarded a penalty foroffside. Penarth found another good touch, won the lineout and quite understandably cleared the ball into touch into the Tyrchs 22. The Tyrchs won the lineout and in turn found a very good touch in the Penarth half. Penarth won the lineout but with an anxious eye on the referee knocked the ball on. TheTyrchs won the scrum and pressured the Penarth defence only to concede a penalty. Penarth found a good touch, won the lineout and to the jubilation of the Penarth supporters the referee blew for full time on what had been a well fought out contest.
