Our first match in the WRU bowl was drawn at home to Treherbert RFC and with the ground looking in excellent condition the weather was not the best with rain for 70% of the match, the home side started by running the ball at every opportunity and with the visitors stern defense holding out the Tyrch's it was not until some 30 mins in to the game did Olley Joyce crash over near to the posts for the first of the tries scored in the first half, although dominant in attack Treherbert were equal to the charge and with Kerian Williams going over close in from a maul to make the halftime score 14-0.
The second half started in much the same manner with attack after attack being stopped short the visitors line but the continual pressure by the Tyrch's saw the first of No 8 Dylan Atkins going over for a well worked try after some 5 mins play, his second some ten min later saw in finish a driving maul far out to score which Alex Moore converted the last of his 3 conversions. The visitors and the home side saw a yellow card each during the second half and the visitors scored the first of 2 tries during these periods and with the final score of the match 26-10 a fair result and a match very well refereed by Mr S Collier .
Our club managed to get a second and youth side also today with the seconds going to Cardiff Quinns for a match against their 3rds in a the new social element of the WRU system, the youth also had their first match of the season away at Llandaff and they went down 17-12 with a team of very young players a massive well done and we can go forward and build for the future
