Old Illtydians Home

Pentyrch RFC V Old Illydians RFC

A further home match for the squad and with the conditions being  fine weather with a slight westerly wind it was well suited to the game as both sides ran the ball at every chance, it was good home defence in the first 10 mins that kept the visitors out and with a few breakaways by the home forwards followed by the swift running of the back line saw the first try being run in by Ollie Joyce close in for a Morgan Hayward conversation 7-0 to the Tyrch’s after some 20 mins, we were then in a running mood and all of the side ran the ball every time there was a chance and breakaway started by prop Dan Fletcher saw good support from the scrumhalf Kieran Williams to see him dummy his way over for a further converted try 14-0 at half time.

The first half finished with lots of running ball, well the second half started in the same vane with tries after 3 and 18 mins by full back Will Hayward and wing Joe Paddison both converted by M Hayward, there was also a try by the visitors O/Half S Cochlin and con within this time to see the score 28-7 with about 20 mins to go, the next 10 mins saw the visitors put lots of pressure on the young Tyrch’s but resilient defence saw them hold firm until about 5 mins to go and Old Illts ran in a further try and conversation for their O/Half. Making the final score 28-14 a further bonus point win.

Our VP’s Man of the Match was No7 Huw Rees

The second XV had an away fixture at St Albans and ran out clear winners with a 7-60 score line to them, our young youth side were at Cardiff Quins and saw a result of 28-14 to the home side.

So next week there’s no game for the first XV or 2nd XV, so with the youth playing home to Canton at 2.30pm come along and shout the boys on.
